README
Case Builder
Turn "something happened to me" into an organized, evidence-backed case file — using any AI assistant and the live Blueshoe MCP Server. Maintained by Blueshoe, the tech-powered law firm for individuals and small businesses.
The promise
Even if you never engage Blueshoe, you leave with your case organized.
Your AI assistant helps you capture what a case is actually made of — what happened, where and when it happened (jurisdiction), the dates that could start legal clocks, and above all the evidence: what exists, what it proves, and where to get it. The result is a case file in plain markdown — portable, human-readable, yours. Hand it to any attorney, anywhere. Or open it as a matter at Blueshoe, where a lawyer can pick it up the moment you decide you want one.
Nothing here is a skeleton or a roadmap. Every tool referenced is live today at https://mcp.blueshoe.com/mcp.
What's in this repo
case-guides/— per-case-type guides to what builds the case: the facts that matter, the jurisdiction details to record, the trigger dates to capture, and the evidence to gather — with what each item proves and where to find it. Free, firm-agnostic, no account needed.schema/case-file.md— the case file structure every guide produces: narrative, parties, jurisdiction, harm, deadline flags, timeline, evidence checklist.mcp/— how building a case maps to Blueshoe's MCP tools, plus the trust model (per-user scoping, write confirmation, statelessness).examples/— an annotated case-building conversation, the case file it produces, and a runnable Claude Agent SDK script that does it end to end.manifest.json— a machine-readable index of the tools, prompts, guides, and flow, so agents can consume this repo without browsing it.
How it works
- Tell the story. Your assistant walks you through what happened — or use the built-in
start_intakeslash command. - Build the file. It structures the facts into a case file (see
schema/case-file.md) and works the matching case guide to identify the evidence your case needs. - Open the matter.
create_matterwith the plain-language narrative — Blueshoe auto-detects the case type and drafts an initial AI assessment. - Save and grow it.
add_matter_documentstores the case file in the matter; upload evidence in the app and the checklist tracks what's in hand versus still needed;update_matter(append) keeps the narrative current. - Your call, made by you. Every matter comes back with links to open it in the Blueshoe app or add an attorney. Engaging a lawyer is always a human decision, made in the app — never by the agent.
Reading matters and documents is seamless; anything that creates or changes data asks you for confirmation first.
The tools
| Tool | Kind | What it does |
|---|---|---|
create_matter |
write | Open a matter from a plain-language description; auto-detects case type and drafts an AI assessment |
list_matters |
read | List your matters, filterable by status |
get_matter |
read | Full matter view: status, description, AI summary, documents, payments, timeline, app links |
update_matter |
write | Refine title/description; append=true adds instead of replacing |
list_matter_documents |
read | List a matter's documents (uploads and agent-saved drafts) |
read_matter_document |
read | Read a document's text inline (PDF/DOCX/notes) or get a download link |
add_matter_document |
write | Save text/markdown into a matter; upserts by filename |
Full parameters and flow: mcp/README.md and manifest.json.
Limitations
- Binary uploads go through the app.
add_matter_documentsaves text/markdown. Photos, PDFs, and other files are uploaded in the Blueshoe app — the agent can then read them withread_matter_document. - No deletion via MCP. The connector can create and update but never delete — matters and documents are removed only in the app. This is by design.
- The AI assessment is generated at creation.
update_matterextends the narrative but doesn't regenerate the initial assessment; ask your assistant to summarize the current state, or use thereview_matterprompt.
Case types
Employment · Landlord–tenant · Consumer & financial · Medical & injury · Creators & founders · Property & construction. Each has a guide in case-guides/. Describe your situation in plain language — Blueshoe detects the case type automatically.
Quickstart
- Connect your assistant to
https://mcp.blueshoe.com/mcp(instructions inSETUP.md— OAuth handles sign-in; there are no API keys). - Say: "I was fired last week and I think it was retaliation — help me build my case."
- Review the matter it opens. When you're ready for a human lawyer, use the add attorney link — or take your case file anywhere.
