Awesome Copilot MCPB Bundle

This is a portable MCP (Model Context Protocol) bundle that packages the entire awesome-copilot repository content into a single installable file for use with VS Code, Claude Code, or any MCP-compatible client.

What's Included

The bundle contains:

  • 145 Instructions - Coding guidelines and best practices across multiple languages and frameworks
  • 125 Prompts - Reusable prompt templates for common development tasks
  • 61 Collections - Curated sets of related prompts, instructions, and agents
  • 118 Agents - Pre-configured AI agents for specific workflows
  • Documentation - Full README files for all content types

Installation

VS Code / VS Code Insiders

Prerequisites:

  • VS Code v1.90+ or VS Code Insiders
  • Node.js v18.0.0 or higher

Installation:

  1. Locate your MCP configuration file:

    • Windows: %APPDATA%\Code - Insiders\User\mcp.json
    • macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Code - Insiders/User/mcp.json
    • Linux: ~/.config/Code - Insiders/User/mcp.json
  2. Add the awesome-copilot server configuration:

  1. Download the awesome-copilot-1.0.0.mcpb file
  2. Copy to your Claude Desktop MCP directory:

Available Tools

Once installed, you'll have access to these MCP tools:

1. search_instructions

Search across all instructions, prompts, collections, and agents by keywords.

Testing the Bundle

Claude Desktop

After installation, try these commands in Claude:

  1. Test search: "Search for PCF instructions"
  2. Test load: "Show me the PCF best practices instruction"
  3. Test list: "List all available prompts"

VS Code

After configuring the MCP server in VS Code:

  1. Open the MCP panel in VS Code
  2. You should see "awesome-copilot" listed under active servers
  3. Click to interact with the MCP tools
  4. Use the tools to search, load, and list content

Verify the connection:

Open VS Code terminal and run:
