About Ocean MCP

Ocean MCP is an MCP server published by mansurjisan in the Developer Tools category: mCP servers for coastal oceanography. It has been installed 0 times through Conduid.

Six months or more without a commit doesn't mean the server is broken, but check the open issues (0) before depending on it in production.

Install

Install
npx ocean-mcp

This server has no ConduID identity, so agent calls to it are not receipted. Pin the version you install and review the source before granting it credentials.

ww3-mcp PyPI GFS-Wave (WAVEWATCH III) forecasts and NDBC buoy wave observations

No API keys required — all servers use free, publicly available datasets.

Quick Start

Install from PyPI

# uvx (recommended) — runs without permanent install, like npx for Python
uvx coops-mcp

# pip — install into current environment
pip install coops-mcp

# pipx — install in isolated environment with CLI entry point
pipx install coops-mcp

Replace coops-mcp with any server: erddap-mcp, nhc-mcp, recon-mcp, stofs-mcp, ofs-mcp, rtofs-mcp, ww3-mcp.

Install from source

git clone https://github.com/mansurjisan/ocean-mcp.git
cd ocean-mcp/servers/coops-mcp # or erddap-mcp, nhc-mcp, recon-mcp, stofs-mcp, ofs-mcp, rtofs-mcp, ww3-mcp
uv sync

Architecture

Each server is fully self-contained with its own pyproject.toml, dependencies, and tests. See docs/architecture.md for details on shared conventions.

Shared patterns across servers:

  • FastMCP for MCP server framework
  • httpx for async HTTP clients
  • Pydantic for parameter validation
  • Read-only tools (no data modification)
  • Dual markdown/JSON output formats
  • Actionable error messages with suggestions

Questions

About Ocean MCP

How do I install Ocean MCP?

Run npx ocean-mcp, then add the server to your MCP client's configuration. Conduid has recorded 0 installs, so the command is known to work with current clients.

Is Ocean MCP safe to use with an AI agent?

Its trust score is 64 out of 100 (good). It passes 0 of 1 static security checks; the failures are listed above. It has no ConduID identity yet, so agent calls to it are not receipted.

Is Ocean MCP still maintained?

The last commit was 6 months ago, with 0 open issues. That's long enough that you should check whether the maintainer is responding to issues before depending on it.
