Easy MCP Builder
A Windsurf plugin that scaffolds a ready-to-run FastAPI + FastAPI-MCP server project with one command.

Installation
Clone this repository or download the release package:
git clone https://github.com/abrahamabel/windsurf-x-antler.git
Install dependencies:
npm install
Compile the extension:
npm run compile
Package the extension:
npm run package
Install the generated VSIX file in Windsurf:
windsurf --install-extension easy-mcp-builder-0.0.1.vsix
Usage
- Open Windsurf
- Open the command palette (Ctrl+Shift+P or Cmd+Shift+P)
- Type "Easy MCP Builder: Create MCP Server" and select the command
- Enter a project name (or accept the default "mcp_server")
- Select a target directory for the project
- The plugin will generate the project and open the
main.pyfile
Generated Project Structure
The plugin generates a minimal project with the following files:
main.py: A FastAPI application with FastApiMCP integration and a/pingendpointrequirements.txt: Lists the required dependencies (fastapi,fastapi-mcp,uvicorn)tsconfig.json: TypeScript configuration for the extension projectsrc/extension.ts: Extension code with scaffolding logicpackage.json: Extension metadata and command contributionsdist/extension.js: Compiled JavaScript output
Running the Generated Server
Navigate to the generated project directory:
cd <project_name>
pip install -r requirements.txt
uvicorn main:app --reload
The server will be available at http://127.0.0.1:8000
The /ping endpoint can be accessed at http://127.0.0.1:8000/ping
Integrating with Windsurf Cascade
- Start your MCP server as described above
- In Windsurf, open Settings β Cascade β Model Context Protocol β Servers
- Add your MCP server URL (
http://127.0.0.1:8000) to the MCP servers list - Refresh the list β Cascade will now be able to use the tools provided by your MCP server

- Node.js 18+
- npm
- Python 3.10+ (for testing the generated server)

Testing
- Compile the extension:
npm run compile - Package it:
npm run package - Install the VSIX file in Windsurf
- Run the command in Windsurf to scaffold a demo project
